Perfect Fashion Trends

The year 2011 noticed many spectacular and over-the-top style movements varying from animal images to uneven clothes and celebs all above the globe bravely put on them. Dhara Vora shortlists the most fashionable appears that are certain to make heads turn at this New Year’s eve bash

If the men went neat so did the women. Female celebrities everywhere were seen sporting different styles of braids on the red carpet, for film premieres and even beaches. Singer Rihanna, who is known for her bob, wore her crazy red hair in a plait for a red carpet event in May this year

Materials textured with the help of shearling, pailletes and sequins are still running strong on the ramps. Bollywood style icon Sonam Kapoor picks a white paillete outfit for a morning event while you can opt for a hot black number for your night out. Also keep in mind that hemlines have gone down

The slick back part was another rage with men’s hair-dos this year. So, if your girl doesn’t mind a potful of gel on your head, Taylor Lautner’s super glossy hair with a side part is your look for the year-end.

Androgyny was big in 2011 and so were jackets and pants borrowed from men’s wardrobes. While we are not in love with Neha Dhupia’s all-white outfit, she does get her trends right with a bib in her neck and a box clutch that were accessory must-haves this year.

You can’t really wear sunglasses at night unless you are Karl Lagerfeld. So, put on those geeky glasses just like Justin Beiber. If you are a plain tee and denim guy wear these glasses in pop colours to jazz up your outfit. Opt for coloured pants which have been embraced by male celebs as well.

Sequins have been shining on ramps and red carpets all over the world. And they make for perfect embellishments for the party of the year. Jacqueline Fernandez mixes two trends of the year -- shine and feathers -- in this little number at the success party of her last film.

While the world might be on the brink of a financial breakdown, fashion designers went the whole hog with layers upon layers of cloth for the ruffle dresses. Wear one to save you from the cold.

Men turned good boys this year with neat hair styles and formal wear. Gel up your hair like singer Bruno Mars for a cool retro look that goes well with a tuxedo or casuals.

Animal prints were found on almost every wearable item. Go easy on them and just use a bit of the print to highlight one part of your outfit, like this scarf we spotted at Colaba Causeway, for just Rs 100.
