Porn star Sunny Leone may have been evicted from Bigg Boss 5 on Saturday but she conditions her stint in the show as "mission accomplished".
"I set out to wash off the judgment associated with my career as an adult actress on this show. I wanted to show the audience my real personality, which is different from what they have seen on the screen. I wanted to prove that I am a regular girl next door. So, I think it was mission completed for me," Sunny told Mail Today moments after stepping out of the house.
The porn star created quite a flutter among the Indian television audience when it was announced she would be entering the Bigg Boss house in November.
Sunny, who is routinely seen going no holds-barred in her lesbian and heterosexual porn videos, has by and large steered clear of controversies in the house except one incident with TV actor Amarr Upadhyay. She cried foul when Amarr lifted her up in his arms during a task that required the contestants to participate in a rain dance party. Amarr also kissed her hand in the course of the task.
If many among the audience felt the porn star was overreacting - after all, Amarr also seemed to be playing out a role on a TV show - Sunny makes her stand clear. "I never wanted to create a controversy but I did feel uncomfortable with Amarr. I felt as if he was making advances towards me and that was the reason I objected. I later had a serious conversation with him where I explained my viewpoint without losing my temper. He publicly apologised later, which I believe came from the heart," she said.
"I avoided revealing my profession to the housemates because I wanted them to judge me as a person. I was not trying to hide what I do. I just wanted my housemates as well as the audience to know my real personality and not have any preconceived notion about me," she said.
Sunny is happy that her ploy worked, what with filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt coming into the house to offer her a role in his upcoming film, Jism 2, which will also introduce his son Rahul. "If Bigg Boss helped me acquire a different image, the entry of Mahesh Bhatt inside the house to offer me a role in Jism 2 was an indication that I was getting positive feedback from the audience," Sunny said.
Sunny is wary about the Broadcasting Content Complaints Council's warning that accused her of using the name of the reality show to promote her 'pornography businesses'. "If there is any objection raised, then my company will take care of it. I was informed about the BCCC objections and I know my team must have taken the corrective steps."
For the record, BCCC had suggested that Sunny was using Bigg Boss 5 to promote pornography, which is still considered illegal in India.
"I was not on the show to change public opinion about my profession. If people still have doubts, I am ready to answer all questions. I see myself working in India for a long time," she said.
